Is a Keeshond the right breed for you?

Keeshonds are bright, affectionate,  inquisitive, mischievous, and have a good sense of humor. They tend to be very sociable and most get along well with children and other pets. They want to be with their family and do not do well as backyard dogs. And, they tend to be barkers.

Many enjoy activities such as agility, competition obedience and rally, AKC Fast Cat, and even some herding and tracking. However, they are not the type of breed that wants a job. Training must be a game that they play with you. If training gets too repetitive or isn't fun, they will get bored and shut down. They can be very selective about the commands they will learn and respond to!

If you are interested in adding a Keeshond puppy to your home, AKC (American Kennel Club) has advice on preparing for a new puppy. Click here.  You can find a list of Keeshond breeders in your area here.

PCKC works with Mt Hood Keeshond Club in Portland OR to rescue Keeshonds that are in need of a new home. If you are interested in adopting or fostering a rescue Keeshond, contact ?????.
